About Us

Located in the charming village of Winchmore Hill just outside Amersham, wrapped up in a quintessentially English exterior, The Plough Italian Pub and Restaurant opened in February 2012 after many years dormant. Once inside, however, it becomes clear that The Plough is anything but a traditional country pub.

Taking pride of place is our wood-fired oven, the living beating heart of our business (and certainly not just for pizza) and our ethos is to bring you the food you would find at a real Italian table.

Whilst probably best known for our classic Neapolitan pizzas (hailed amongst the best outside of Napoli), our menus bring regional Italy to the English countryside. Fresh bread and pasta dough are made by us here every day, alongside amazing fish, meat and vegetables with every dish made from scratch using the freshest raw ingredients, all served without a red checked tablecloth, raffia-clad Chianti bottle or gigantic pepper mill in sight!

Our expertise does not end with food though.

We have a large selection of award winning Italian wines which are unique and exclusive to us here in the UK. We love to chat about these and can happily guide you through the list!

Not in the mood for wine? Of course, we have a range of Italian draft beers alongside English ale and cider. From Italian spritz to after dinner liqueurs and everything in between we have something for all tastes and times of day, including a large collection of spirits, Italian gin, grappa and traditional digestifs.
